Preview Session PREP

What is a preview session?

As professional makeup & hair artists that specialize in bridal, we highly recommend a trial, or as we like to call, a preview session, before the wedding. This is the time to choose the exact look you would like, so that on your wedding day it can be mastered and applied efficiently. A preview session also gives you the chance to photograph yourself in the look to see how you feel! When we do a preview session, we suggest the bride look at herself in both natural and artificial lighting and take photos of herself, both with and without flash.

What should I expect during my consultation?

We will look at your inspiration pictures and ideas, and together discuss colors and styles that will translate to you and that will best suit your individuality. This will help is to achieve your best “you” on your special day. This is the opportunity for you to discuss what details are most important to you, and other concerns you may have. We can’t wait for the chance to get to know each other, understand your style, and to earn your trust as this is your big day that we are both honored and excited to be a part of, and we want you to leave feeling the same way. Please allow 2-3 hours based on your needs and services you are booking.

Preparing for Makeup Application

Even if you have a perfect complexion, the few days before a makeup application are not the time for a facial. However, never under estimate the importance of skin care preparation to ensure a clean, fresh, natural looking makeup canvas. The day of the trial, we will prep your skin with an appropriate moisturizer and primer, but for individuals with more sensitive skin you are more than welcome to apply your own skincare directly before the makeup. If you have a skin issue that is a concern for you, please do share with us. What can seem like a HUGE problem to you will likely be common in our world. We also highly recommend wearing a similar color top as your wedding dress. This helps your artist use the perfect shades & textures based on your skin tone and coloring of the fabric.

Preparing for Hair Styling

Please remember that formal hairstyles work better if hair is not freshly washed. As a rule of thumb, hair washed the night before and slept on, or “dirty hair”, is more manageable to work with and will hold any type of curl or style for a longer period of time. However, if you have extremely fine hair, feel free to wash the morning of the preview session. We ask that you arrive with your hair dry and product free. This is also the time for you to bring any hair accessories, hair extensions or even your veil.
